OOAK Mentorship Program

The One Of A Kind Mentorship Program pairs experienced exhibitors with new participants to foster a supportive, collaborative community. Through informal, flexible connections, mentors share insights on everything from booth setup and inventory to customer engagement and show logistics.

To make the most of the experience – and – and out of respect for our volunteer mentors – new exhibitors are expected to review the Exhibitor Kit and available resources before reaching out.

Rooted in community and shared experience, this program is all about helping each other succeed.

Available to 11-Day, Pop-Up (5/6 Day), Flavours, Original Art Gallery, Christmas Market, and Rising Stars exhibitors.

LanaBetty

About LanaBetty: LanaBetty is a jewelry studio rooted in Vancouver, BC, where traditional goldsmithing meets modern technology. I handcraft fine jewelry that tells stories—of empowerment, intention, and bold beauty—with ethically sourced metals and gemstones. Each piece is made to last, made to fit, and made to matter.

The One of a Kind Show is more than just a market—it’s a celebration of Canadian craftsmanship, creativity, and connection. Being part of it means I get to share my work with people who value artistry and authenticity. It’s where I meet longtime collectors, spark new friendships, and see faces light up when they find their piece—the one that feels like it was made just for them. It reminds me why I do what I do: to make jewelry that feels personal, powerful, and one of a kind in every sense.

Freon Collective

About Freon Collective: Hi! I'm Nancy and I'm the owner and maker behind Freon Collective, a low-waste lifestyle brand located in Toronto, ON. I design all of our prints used in our goods, and cut and sew everything in my Leslieville studio. I have been with the One of a Kind Show since 2016, first working with a local brand as an exhibitor, attending the show for many years as a member of press, and finally exhibiting at the show under my own brand starting in 2021.

I am very passionate about the One of a Kind Show, and often share tips on lighting, booth design, inventory organization, and various other topics related to the show on our social media pages. Since 2021, we have won various awards at the show (social media awards, best booth, design awards) and have been featured in various publications and media.

The show has been instrumental in growing my brand, customer leads, and I have been fortunate to build so many connections and friendships with fellow exhibitors through my years of doing the One of a Kind Show!

Copious

About Copious: Copious is an upcycling brand that works with stained, damaged, unwanted or donated fabrics. By repurposing these items and giving them new life, designer Carissa McCaig keeps them from landfills while creating new one-of-a-kind designs for her customers to fall in love with.

The One of a Kind Show has been the centre point to building the Copious brand. It has allowed me to get in front of lots of people, both at the Spring & Winter show, give my products the chance to be really seen. I would not have succeeded at this show if it weren't for the makers who took me under their wing and helped guide me to the right way to sell at OOAK. I am overjoyed that the mentorship program is back, it really shows that we are about community over competition!

Become a Mentor

Why Mentor?
Mentoring is a great way to give back, connect with fellow creators, and boost the community. Plus, you might be surprised how much your own journey can inspire others—and remind you how far you’ve come!

How Mentors Help
From planning realistic inventory and styling your booth, to managing energy, engaging customers, and handling costs, mentors guide new exhibitors through it all.

How It Works
You pick how you want to communicate and how much time you can give. Focus on the areas you know best—there are no strict rules, just friendly guidance based on your experience. To make the most of the mentorship (and out of respect for your time), all mentees will be asked to read through the Exhibitor Kit and available resources before reaching out with questions. This way, mentors can focus on sharing insights that go beyond what’s already provided.
